SECOND PRIZE AT ANKARA INTERCITY NEW AŞTİ BUS TERMINAL COMPETITION
The 100,000 m2 area allocated for AŞTİ is located on the southeast of Ankara, on the side of the ring road. In consideration with the inclined structure of the land, the layout has been planned on the two sides of the stream bed which is more flat. The excavations were used for elevation in the way to allow leveling. A two-storied solution was used within the bus circulation area in order to prevent overlapping of departing and arriving passengers. Another reason of forward-looking reservation of the hill within the area is its facade facing the Kanal Ankara project. In consideration with the climate conditions of Ankara, indoor waiting areas were planned around the bus platforms. The construction time was decreased by planning the productions below the basement to be made of reinforced concrete and all superstructures of steel. The top covers of the structures were considered to be membrane type material. Day light is used at its maximum in order to decrease the operational costs and roof aerials were planned to enable natural ventilation. Furthermore, it is planned to use solar panels both on the roof and the cover of the car park areas in terms of renewable energy sources.
