Isbank

Established at the close of the Ottoman Empire, the national bank of Turkey, Turkiye Is Bankasi A.S., decided to relocate its headquarters from the capital of Ankara to the country’s financial center, Istanbul. The opening of the Bank’s new facility completes its move from Ankara, the capital of Turkey, to the heart of the nation’s business center. It clearly reflects a desire to look forward rather than backward in tis banking hall, offices, trading floor, 800-seat theater, cafeteria and exhibition gallery – a choice that has produces impressive results. Hillier designed interiors for this new 42-storey corporate tower that respond to Isbank’s desire to make its building a cultural, as well as a business, icon. Oney Architecture has performed an application in 41th floor’s Ballroom, VIP main entrance and semi-private customer service offices in the three-story Banking Hall. A three- story Banking Hall includes an open atrium that is capped by a custom designed, rear-lit clerestory to suggest a skylight. The public areas of the bank, such as the teller windows and semi-private customer service offices, are located on the ground floor. The Executive Meeting Room consist of one large conference room with reception and waiting areas, a library / meeting room and six medium conference rooms. At the top of the tower is the 30-foot high Reception Hall; its soaring interior space frames dramatic views of the city. The building won an award of American Institude of Architects, Chapter Awards in 2001.
